My favorites include mystery, the romance of adventure, stories of overcoming and having overcome (like your list), inspirational and educational. I too stayed outside from sun up until midnight, though I lived in the extreme rural south, so I suspect my carefree playful nature was not as (how do i say it politely?)... risky as yours.
